A dramatic party on The OC and a dramatic group project on Project Runway

20 years ago, Southern California was in the worst drought in living memory. Now that drought probably looks like small potatoes. Let's see what was on TV!

8:00 The OC on Fox
2x07 "The Family Ties"
Available on Hulu and Max
We get a good fight at a party in this episode! Fancy clothes, screaming, secrets revealed! That's television, baby. Plus Ryan and Lindsey worry they're committing incest. It's a pretty fun episode.
This episode was written by Drew Z. Greenberg. He has written for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Agents of SHIELD.
This episode was directed by Lesli Linka Glatter. One of the most acclaimed television directors of all time, Glatter has directed episodes of Twin Peaks, Freaks and Geeks, Gilmore Girls, Mad Men, Homeland, and many, many more tv shows. She is also the director of the coming-of-age classic Now and Then and the current president of the DGA.

9:00 Project Runway (recorded)
1x04 "Collaboration"
Available on Tubi and other FAST services
Parties on The OC are dramatic. But you know what's really dramatic? Group projects.
This week on Project Runway, it's a surprise group project. And then we get a surprise Hunger Games-style elimination in which people have to choose the weak member of the team. It was very dramatic this week and I suspect that it will yield more drama in the future. All that, plus the challenge (to design a concert dress for a pop-punk star) was super fun.
And a moment of silence for poor Vanessa Riley, who was eliminated thanks to her own word vomit in a very relatable moment. I will miss her, and not just because she reminds me of the other Vanessa Riley, a maverick British figure skating judge from the '80s and '90s who saw Alexander Fadeev's jockstrap and thought only of the ISU rulebook (learn more here. You won't regret it!).
What Else Was On
CBS premiered Wickedly Perfect, in which people competed to be "America's Next Great Stylemaker." Judges included Candace Bushnell, Bobby Flay, and David Evangelista.
TiVo Status
Just the three-hour Masterpiece Theater miniseries The Lost Prince. One day I'll watch it.
